Delia got her first monkeypox vaccine yesterday. She is a little more sleepy than usual and starting to feel achey. This is what the spot looks like today:
After these pandemic years and how Delia acted and responded to all of those challenges, I am even more aware of how exceptionally awesome it is to be in committed relationship with someone who takes action to protect our lives and cares about our health.
We are not particularly anxious about monkeypox even if we were to get it, but since vaccine is available and we definitely don’t want to get it … yay! Our county has extra (in part due to giving intradermal injections which use less vaccine) so they’re opening it up to more people (she is prodding me to get mine too).
I’m going to bed early with my wife now, aware of & grateful that pandemic was SO MUCH EASIER on me than so many other people. Not just because we had/have each other through it, but because she was & continues to be on top of the news & our health. I never had to worry about a lot of the bullshit other people did about who they were married to or shacked up with making shitty decisions or just being lazy or willfully ignorant.
She still wears N95 masks. And I don’t have to worry about some of these things making her deathly sick. That is one of the best gifts your spouse can give you; hundreds and thousands of things you don’t have to be afraid of (like your most-loved one getting sick or dying for no good reason).
